In contemporary society, individuals face increasing pressures associated with academic demands, professional responsibilities, interpersonal relationships, and rapid technological advancements. Consequently, there is growing recognition of the importance of psychological well-being, mental health care, and human development. Psychology, as a scientific discipline with broad practical applications, offers diverse career pathways in education, healthcare, organizational settings, psychological counseling, psychotherapy, and support services for children with special educational needs. The Psychology program at Van Hien University is designed for students who are passionate about exploring the complexities of the human mind and understanding how individuals think, feel, behave, and develop throughout their lives. Guided by its educational philosophy, “Character Development Before Career Success,” the University aims to equip students with a solid foundation of scientific knowledge, professional competencies, and humanistic values necessary to address the evolving needs of society.

Students pursuing a degree in Psychology acquire foundational and specialized knowledge in General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Personality Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychological Counseling, Psychotherapy, and Psychology in Human Resource Management. Through this interdisciplinary academic foundation, students progressively develop essential competencies in behavioral observation and analysis, emotional understanding, effective interpersonal communication, and the provision of psychological support to individuals experiencing personal and psychosocial difficulties. The program offers two distinct areas of specialization. Psychological Counseling and Psychotherapy provides foundational knowledge of mental health, psychological disorders and difficulties, counseling approaches, and evidence-informed psychological support across diverse settings. Psychological Counseling and Human Resource Management focuses on applying psychological principles to personnel recruitment, employee training, talent development, organizational culture, and workplace performance. In addition to theoretical instruction, the curriculum emphasizes the development of applied skills, scientific reasoning, interpersonal competencies, and professional ethics through supervised field placements and practice-oriented learning experiences.
Graduates of the Psychology program may pursue professional opportunities across several areas:
- Psychological Counseling and Psychotherapy: Graduates may contribute to counseling and psychological support services for individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health difficulties in hospitals, psychological counseling centers, healthcare facilities, social service organizations, and community-based settings.
- Psychological Intervention and Support for Children with Special Educational Needs: Career opportunities include working in early intervention centers, special education institutions, child development support centers, and inclusive education programs. Graduates may assist in implementing individualized intervention and support programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties, developmental delays, and other developmental support needs. These programs may address communication, cognitive functioning, behavioral regulation, emotional development, and social skills.
- School Psychology and Educational Counseling: Graduates may participate in school-based psychological support services, assisting students with emotional and behavioral concerns, psychosocial adjustment, life skills development, academic challenges, and career guidance.
- Human Resource Management and Organizational Development: Graduates may pursue careers in recruitment, training and development, talent management, organizational culture, employee well-being, and employee engagement.
- Psychological Research, Education, and Community Development: Graduates may contribute to research projects investigating human behavior and psychological processes, participate in community-based support programs, or pursue postgraduate education to further develop their expertise and prepare for careers in academic teaching and research.

Professional roles involving independent psychotherapy, clinical psychological practice, or specialized developmental interventions may require additional postgraduate training, supervised clinical experience, professional certification, or licensure in accordance with applicable regulations. In an era characterized by the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), technological innovations increasingly support information processing, data analysis, and professional productivity. Nevertheless, essential human competencies—including empathy, active listening, interpersonal trust, understanding of psychological development, and the capacity to provide meaningful psychological support—remain indispensable. Therefore, pursuing a degree in Psychology represents more than preparation for a professional career. It is also a journey of self-discovery, scientific inquiry, personal growth, and the cultivation of compassion and social responsibility.
By integrating scientific knowledge, applied professional competencies, and humanistic educational values, the Psychology program at Van Hien University provides students with opportunities to develop their potential, strengthen their professional capabilities, and progressively realize their aspirations to contribute to human well-being and development.
