The Department of Political Theory was established in the beginning days of Van Hien University. Since its foundation, along with the strong development of the university, the department has been managing and covering four core courses required for all academic programs, including: Marxist-Leninist Philosophy, Scientific Socialism, Ho Chi Minh Thoughts, and the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The department is responsible for teaching political theory courses to students across all undergraduate programs at Van Hien University, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Van Hien University. In addition to equipping students with comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of political theory, the department also focuses on educating and fostering political awareness, ethics, lifestyle, and civic responsibility for students – the future leaders of the nation.
To meet the demands of overall development, the department continually strengthens its faculty in both quantity and quality. Currently, the department consists of 10 faculty members with specialized expertise and teaching experience that fully meet the requirements for teaching and conducting scientific research at the university.

In addition to handling a large number of courses for students across all academic programs, faculty members of the department actively participate in scientific research and guide students in research activities. In recent years, the faculty has set an exemplary standard by proactively publishing research findings in international journals (ISI, Scopus), state-recognized academic journals, and national and international conference proceedings.
