The Vietnamese Studies is an academic discipline dedicated to studying Vietnam and its people through various aspects such as culture, history, geography, customs, language, literature, and more. It aims to clarify the distinctive and unique features of the country, offering a comprehensive and diverse examination of various fields from a cultural perspective.

In the history of formation and development at Van Hien University, Vietnamese Studies is a relatively young discipline, yet its faculty is always dedicated and full of enthusiasm.

Students of Vietnamese Studies go for field training

According to the educational orientation, graduates of Vietnamese Studies are equipped with fundamental knowledge of social sciences, politics, law, and information technology, as well as Vietnam's history and culture. They are able to apply this knowledge of the country and its culture in professional fields, careers, and social activities. Additionally, the program provides students with essential knowledge for practicing the profession, such as planning, organizing, and supervising work processes, as well as basic management and operational skills in their respective fields. The program also fosters patriotism and deepens understanding of Vietnam’s people, culture, and history.

Lecturers and students of Vietnamese studies join experiential activities

Currently, graduates of Vietnamese Studies have numerous career opportunities: (1) Research and teaching in Vietnamese Studies or teaching Vietnamese to foreigners; (2) Tour guides or working in the tourism industry, as well as in the media and press; (3) Translators and interpreters of Vietnamese in diplomatic agencies, international organizations, representative offices, commercial offices, government and non-governmental organizations, both in Vietnam and abroad.

During their studies, the Vietnamese Studies Department strives to provide students with the best opportunities to develop research skills, gain experience, and practice professional skills. The department has established relationships with schools, museums, and cultural-historical heritage sites in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces. Internships and professional experiences have received positive feedback from both students and receiving organizations.
In addition to academic work, faculty members and students of Vietnamese Studies at Van Hien university actively participate in scientific research, sports activities, and join various clubs organized by the faculty and the university. These activities aim to help students improve soft skills, develop professional abilities, and acquire supplementary knowledge to enhance their employability after graduation.
