As part of their activities to learn about the history of their country, students from Van Hien University visited the Reunification Palace (Independence Palace) – a landmark associated with many important events in modern Vietnamese history. On April 30, 1975, Liberation Army units entered the center of Saigon, with tanks passing through the gates of the Reunification Palace. The flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam was raised on the roof of the Reunification Palace, marking the moment the Saigon government declared unconditional surrender. The event of April 30, 1975, became a significant historical milestone, ushering in a period of peace and national reunification.
Visiting the rooms, artifacts, and spaces associated with the historic moment of April 30, 1975, left a deep impression on the students of Van Hien University. Through the documents and evidence preserved at the Reunification Palace, they had the opportunity to better understand an important period in the nation's history. The tour created a more intimate and lively atmosphere, while also helping students deeply appreciate the value of peace and reunification. This was also an opportunity for the younger generation to further cherish the sacrifices and losses of their predecessors.
From the historical documents at the Reunification Palace, students of Van Hien University gained a clearer understanding of the responsibilities of today's young generation in their studies, training, and contributions to society. Upholding the spirit of April 30th means continuing to cultivate a sense of solidarity, responsibility, resilience, and aspiration for building an increasingly developed country. At the end of the visit, each student became even more aware of the importance of cultivating knowledge and skills, living responsibly towards the community, and transforming their appreciation for the past into motivation to improve themselves and make positive contributions to their homeland.
